This month, I want to talk about something besides carpet and upholstery cleaning.
I want to focus on our military. Specifically, I want to talk about the soldiers of the Florida National Guard’s 124th Infantry Regiment.
These brave soldiers returned home to their loved ones after being deployed to operations to the Horn of Africa; once again, home away from their families and “real jobs” for several months.
Citizen soldiers are truly a special breed of warrior.
Upon their return, an “army” of businesses and local support organizations greeted the 100+ soldiers and their family members and welcomed them home at a family reunion and picnic at the Brevard Veterans’ Memorial Center.
I was honored to be one of the organizers of the event. I didn’t do it all alone, however. So, I want to recognize the following people and organizations:
Sheriff Wayne Ivey and Brevard County Commissioner Jim Barfield. Delicious In Your Mouth, Matt and Jamie Jaime Evans Walter, Gary Boyer and Buddy Lancaster with Reel Pit Bar-B-Que and Louie at Florida Key Lime Pies and Gordon Food Service for the food. Thanks to Carrie Bryniak, Brian Jaskiewicz, MOACCC Tim Pishdad, Military Affairs Council of the Cocoa Beach Chamber Sandy Miller Owens, Erica Ruof at Fairvilla, JP Snead at Inmon Automotive Services, International Palms, Victory Cruise Lines, Ken American Legion 344, Don Pearsall, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Viera VA Clinic, The Vet Center Melbourne, Girad Middleton, SobeSurf, DJ Gardner, Donn and Jeanne Harris Weaver, David Miller,Navy Federal Credit Union, our church friends, Brevard Commissioner Jim Barfield, David Bridget Minnick Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Dean and the team at Veterans Center and many others for their support and donations.
